Set-Up Instructions: Windows 2000

Here you will find everything you need to connect and browse the Internet using Microsoft Windows 2000, as well as sending and receiving e-mail. Follow these instructions, which will guide you through the Connection Wizard for an easy road to internet access.

Step 1 - Opening the Internet Connection Wizard

 

  1. Click the Start button.

  2. Click on Programs.

  3. Click on Accessories.

  4. Click on Communications.

  5. Click on the Internet Connection Wizard.

Step 2 - Setting up the new connection

 

  1. Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)... Click Next.

     

 

  1. Select I connect through a phone line or modem... Click Next.

     

 

  1. Now, a telephone number needs to be specified. You will find this number on your account information sheet or here Ezlinx.net dial-up numbers. It is listed as the POP Number. Enter this number in the Telephone Number box. Click Next.

     

 

  1. Type in the user name and password that you chose when you set up your account with us. If you do not remember what they are, you can find them on your account information sheet... Click Next.

     

 

  1. The connection name that you type will label your connection icon. Type for the Connection Name "Ezlinx.net"... Click Next.

     

 

  1. The next step begins the set-up of your e-mail account. Select Yes... Click Next.

     

 

  1. Select Create a new Internet mail account... Click Next.

     

 

  1. Type your name as you want others to see it when you post news messages... Click Next.

     

 

  1. Type your e-mail address in the space provided. You can find this on your account informaiton sheet... Click Next.

     

 

  1. Make sure that your Mail Server is selected as "POP3". If it isn't, click the Down Arrow and select "POP3".

     

 

  1. In the box for Account name: you need to type in your username which can be found on your account information sheet. Then type in your password, which can also be found on your account information sheet... Click Next.

     

 

  1. Your connection is now complete. To log on immediately, check the box next to To connect to the Internet immediately... Then click Finish.

     

Step 3 - Connecting to Ezlinx.net and Browsing the Internet

 

  1. Click the Start button.

  2. Select Programs.

  3. Select Internet Explorer.

  4. The Microsoft Internet Explorer Program will now open. Also, a dial-up connection window will open. Your username and password should already be entered. If not, enter them now... Click Connect.

Make sure that your user name and password are both typed in lower case letters. If they aren't, your connection will not work.
