Set-Up Instructions: Windows 98

The following instructions explain how to set-up Windows 98 to dial and connect to Ezlinx.net.

 

  1. Double-click the My Computer icon.

 

  1. Double-click Dial-Up Networking.

 

  1. Double-click Make New Connection.

 

  1. Delete the contents of the Type a name for the computer you are dialing field, and type Ezlinx.net.

     

 

  1. Click [ Next > ]

     

  2. For Telephone Number, enter the Ezlinx.net access number you have been given. Note: if you have to dial the area code to place local calls, enter the area code directy in front of the 7 digit number, NOT in the box labeled Area Code.

     

 

  1. Click [ Next > ]

 

  1. Click [ Finish ]

     

  2. Right-Click the Ezlinx.net icon, and click Properties.

 

  1. On the General tab, uncheck Use area code and dialing properties.

 

  1. Click on the Server Types tab.

 

  1. The only item that needs to be checked under "Advanced options:" is "Enable software compression".

     

  2. The only item that needs to be checked under "Allowed network protocols:" is "TCP/IP".

     

  3. Click [ TCP/IP Settings... ].

     

 

  1. Make sure that the first two options are set to "Server assigned...". Both "Use IP header compression" and "Use default gateway on remore network" should be checked.

     

  2. Click [ OK ] and then click [ OK ] again.

     

  3. Once again, right-click the Ezlinx.net icon and click Create Shortcut.

     

  4. When asked if you would like to place a shortcut on the desktop, click [ Yes ].
